Terms of Service

By subscribing to our service, you acknowledge and accept our Terms of Service.

These Terms of Service constitute the entire agreement between the parties and supersede any communications, representations, or agreements, whether oral, written, or implied — including but not limited to information provided on our website, in advertisements, by customer service agents, partners, or through any other channels.

1. Service Overview
“Around the World in 80 Cards” is a personalized membership service that facilitates the mailing of handwritten postcards from various global locations. Each postcard is written by one of our vetted writer-partners and mailed through the local postal service (when available).

Your membership includes one postcard per calendar month and covers the following services,

  • Procurement of postcard and postage
  • Handwriting and personalization of the postcard
  • Mailing of the postcard through local postal channels

Once a postcard is dropped into the local mail system, our service obligation is considered fulfilled. While we make every effort to ensure successful mailing, delivery is not guaranteed, as it depends on third-party postal services beyond our control. However, we are committed to providing a thoughtful and enjoyable experience. In rare cases of severe damage or non-delivery, we offer one-time complimentary replacement postcards, as outlined in Sections 3. Damage Policy and 4. Non-Delivery Policy.

2. Delivery & Shipping
Shipping worldwide is included. 
To bring you the greatest authenticity, we try to use local postal services in each country to send your postcards.
As such, delivery times are not within our control and may vary significantly depending on the origin and destination.
We cannot guarantee exact delivery dates or arrival times.
While most postcards arrive within a few weeks, some may take longer due to customs, postal delays, or other unforeseen circumstances.

3. Damage Policy
At Around the World in 80 Cards, we celebrate the charm and authenticity of traditional mail. Each postcard is handwritten and sent through local postal services — often without an envelope — to preserve the experience of receiving a “naked” postcard with real stamps and postmarks. 

By subscribing to our service, you acknowledge and accept the following:
– Postcards may arrive with signs of travel. This can include smudges, scuffs, creases, bent corners, or watermarks
– We do not guarantee pristine condition. While we take care in selecting quality materials and preparing each card, we cannot control how mail is handled once it enters the postal system.

If a postcard arrives severely damaged (e.g., torn in half or illegible), please contact support@80cards.com with a photo. ​We will gladly send you a replacement postcard from our next destination at no additional cost.

4. Non-Delivery Policy
We understand that international mail can occasionally go missing.
Prior to mailing each postcard, we take a photo of the written side as proof of work completion.
If you do not receive a postcard within 6 months, please contact us at support@80cards.com and we will gladly send you a replacement postcard from our next destination at no additional cost.

We are not responsible for non-delivery due to an incorrect mailing address provided or mistyped by the customer, or if the recipient/ customer has moved. If you are moving, please update your shipping address in the Member’s portal or notify us at support@80cards.com with your updated address at least 30 days before the move. Failure to do so may result in lost postcards.

5. Subscription & Billing
You may cancel the autorenewal on your subscription at any time through our Member’s portal or emailing us at cancellations@80cards.com. This must be done at least 30 days before your next payment date. There is no pro-rating and refunds are not issued for postcards already sent.

The Annual membership consists of 12 cards (approximately 1 year) and the “Around the World” membership consists of 80 cards (approximately 7 years) are prepaid at time of purchase. Although continuation is possible, these memberships are not automatically autorenewed. You may be contacted by email or mail near the end of your subscription to see if you would like to continue, or you may reach out to support@80cards.com. 

6. Content & Personalization
Each postcard is handwritten and may include personal stories, cultural insights, or travel reflections of the writer.
Each writer-partners has been vetted for quality and English ability. Please note that handwriting styles and content may vary. 
All postcards are written in English, but English may not be our writer-partner’s first language. 

7. Returns and Refunds
As our service is personalized for each member, membership fees are nonrefundable and you will be billed in full for the subscription term. You may cancel at anytime, but no refunds will be provided for the unused portion of your subscription term. 

Our customers’ happiness and satisfaction are our top priorities. If you are dissatisfied in any way, please let us know and we will do our best to help.

If you are not completely satisfied, contact support@80cards.com to initiate a return of the product for a prompt refund. You will need to complete our returns form. Our Support team will review and provide you will a Return File Number and return address. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. 

Refunds will be processed upon receipt of the product. Postage fees will be subtracted from the refund amount. The refund amount will be returned to the original payment method within 7 – 10 business days.

8. Privacy
We respect your privacy. Your mailing information is only shared with trusted postcard writers for the purpose of fulfilling your subscription. Your email will be used for purposes relevant to your membership, subscription, and promotions. We do not sell or share your personal information with unrelated third parties. 9. Governing Law & Arbitration
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Ireland, in accordance with the rules of the Irish Arbitration Association. By subscribing to our service, you agree to waive your right to participate in class actions and instead resolve any disputes individually.

10. Limitations of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Around the World in 80 Cards, its owners, shareholders, affiliates, and writer-partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your subscription or use of our service. This includes, but is not limited to, delays, lost mail, dissatisfaction with postcard content, or errors in personalization. Our total liability, collectively, shall not exceed the amount paid for your subscription during the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Force Majeure
We are not liable for failure to perform our obligations due to events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, postal strikes, war, civil unrest, pandemics, or government restrictions.

12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and will take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree with any updated Terms, you may contact our customer service team at support@80cards.com within 30 days of the change. We will offer a refund for the unused portion of your subscription term, calculated from the date of your request.
