Hello, lovely readers! I’m Sally, and this is Bucky — my mischievous, marshmallow-hearted stuffed beaver who insists on being the star of every photo and occasionally tries to steal my snacks. Together, we set off on a magical adventure to Iceland, land of fire, ice, and very unpredictable skies!
Planning this trip was a bit like herding puffins — delightful but tricky. My dear dad came along, and while he’s not the most nimble explorer, he’s got a heart as big as a glacier. So we carefully crafted an itinerary that balanced wonder with practicality. Iceland is famously pricey (even Bucky’s hot cocoa cost more than his airfare!), so we tried to keep costs low where we could — though some splurges were simply unavoidable.
We saved Reykjavík for the end of our journey, just in case the weather gods threw a snowball at our plans. That way, we’d be close to the airport and less likely to miss our flight home. Speaking of weather, Iceland’s skies can change faster than Bucky’s mood when he’s denied dessert — so we relied heavily on vedur.is for up-to-date forecasts and another trusty site to check road conditions (especially important when driving through elf-inhabited fjords and troll-approved tunnels).
We tried to book cancellable accommodations in case we got stranded by storms or sidetracked by seals, but alas — most budget-friendly options were no-cancellation. So we crossed our fingers, packed extra snacks, and hoped for the best.
Just a quick note: we’re not affiliated with any of the places or services we mention. No one’s paying us in króna, cookies, or cuddles. Everything we share is simply what we loved (or learned from!) along the way.
Ready to dive into our day-by-day Icelandic escapade? Bucky’s already buckled in — let’s go!
