Meet Michael: Explorer of Culture, Curator of Curiosity

At Around the World in 80 Cards, we believe every postcard carries a piece of the person who wrote it – their voice, their memories, their way of seeing the world. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce one of our newest storytellers, Michael, whose love for travel, culture, and the quiet magic of museums brings a fresh spark to our global community.

Born and raised in the suburbs of London, Michael grew up surrounded by history – from Roman ruins to Tudor manors – and it shaped him into the kind of traveler who doesn’t just visit a place, but digs into its stories. While some travelers chase beaches or nightlife, Michael aims to really learn about a place. You’ll find him wandering through all the cultural sights, lingering in front of a painting longer than anyone else, or getting lost in a museum wing most tourists skip entirely.

Michael has a gift for noticing the small things that make a place unforgettable, and for turning those details into stories that feel like you’re right there beside him — the sound of a bustling market, the hush of a cathedral, the way a sculpture looks in late‑afternoon light.

Whether he’s exploring a new city or revisiting a familiar one, Michael approaches every destination with curiosity and respect. His love for culture isn’t just academic – it’s deeply human. He believes that art and history connect us, reminding us that people everywhere share the same hopes, fears, and dreams.

Michael is excited to join the Around the World in 80 Cards family and share his reflections from museums, markets, and winding streets around the globe.

We can’t wait for you to read Michael’s stories, discover new corners of the world through his eyes, and feel the wonder he brings to every journey.
