Edinburgh had been sitting on my travel wishlist for years. Once, friends even invited me to join them for Hogmanay, but I already had other plans and had to pass. During the six years I lived in the UK, I kept telling myself, “I’ll go soon,” but somehow, it never happened. Life got busy, and Edinburgh remained just out of reach.

Well—Someday is now Today.

No more waiting for the perfect moment or the right travel companions. I packed a bag, booked a ticket, and set off for a long weekend. Just me and a city I’d been meaning to meet for far too long.

Traveling solo has its own rhythm. There’s a freedom in wandering without an agenda, in letting curiosity guide you through winding streets and unexpected corners. Edinburgh turned out to be the perfect place for that kind of exploration. From the moment I arrived, it felt like the city was welcoming me with open arms—and a bit of misty charm.

This blog series is my way of sharing that experience. The sights, the stories, the quiet moments, and the surprises. Whether you’ve been to Edinburgh before or are just dreaming about it like I once did, I hope you’ll enjoy coming along for the ride.

Just so you know: None of the places I mentioned—hotels, hostels, restaurants, or attractions—are sponsoring me or paying me to talk about them. This trip was entirely self-funded, and all the opinions, mishaps, and discoveries are my own. Just sharing what I experienced so you can plan your own adventure with a few more insights (and maybe fewer wrong turns).
